"Environment for Healthy Life" Public Centre - is registered as a Republican NGO on February 24, 2003 (registration number 534).
The main objectives of the Centre are to support of reforms aimed at delivering quality education, promoting up-to-date teaching methods and application of learning to real life, understanding the importance of saving the environment, and promoting healthy life styles.  

Mission of the Centre
Ensuring of the adoption of double-vector approach, which supposes paying equal attention both to formal and non-formal education and make arrangements for guarantying the effective improvement of each other.
• To enhance young people’s understanding of the importance of civil society and participation in civil society;
• To build young peoples capacity to take an active role in civil society;
• To assist young people to develop attitudes and values of living that will contribute to sustainable development;
• To provide young people with practical opportunities to demonstrate that they can play active and positive roles in society.

We achieve this largely through running training courses for young people and those working with young people. We also engage is specific projects related to young people.
Our working principles are to involve young people in the development and delivery of projects themselves. Hence, we have a young staff at the Centre, and we work towards involving groups of young people as volunteers to build their capacity to then lead others. Our Centre also has other working principles include fairness, justices, transparency, and respect, which govern the way that we work.

Main direction and activities
The Centre focuses on running training courses for young people and teachers. We have developed a programme of courses, all of which have been approved by the appropriate authorities in Uzbekistan. All the courses are supported by resources for the students and notes for the teachers. – and all are delivered using student centred participatory methodologies

Environmental Education – includes seminar and trainings calling to save the nature, use nature resources effectively without damaging the environment:
1. Education for sustainable development;
2. Saving the environment;
3. Global climate change – reducing the carbon emission.
Healthy Life – seminar and trainings calling to healthy way of life:
1. Life skills;
2. Prevention of HIV/AIDS;
3. Prevention of drug abuse;
4. Prevention of smoking and alcoholism;
5. First Aid;
6. Sanitation and hygiene for primary schools.

Sustainable development - conducting trainings, events and developing materials:
1. Local Agenda 21;
2. Promotion of SD

Secondary directions of the Centre
• Personal development and social issues – seminar and trainings on developing personal skills and qualities:
1. Team work;
2. Career Development;
3. Market skills – I’m a customer, my rights;
4. Development of personal qualities;
5. How to behave in emergency situations.
• Other – includes seminar and trainings on:
1. Prevention human trafficking problem;
2. People with special needs in society;
3. Family relationships.
• Youth’ Social Events – providing actions for target group (children) in large scales on:
1. Environment protection and Globally climate change;
2. Prevention of HIV/AIDS;
3. Prevention of drug abuse;
4. Prevention human trafficking problem;

Modules were developed in correspondence with state educational standards and Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "National Program of Personnel Training" and the conception of extra-curricular educational activities. The modules were recommended for use by Republican Centre Education and Ministry of Public Education.
Training and seminars are providing continuously, upon request or/and based on the needs of school children/administration, youth bodies and initial groups, methodical centers and Youth Parliament.

Established in 1943, the FSC has become internationally respected for its national network of 17 education centres, international outreach training projects, research programmes, information and publication services and wide range of fascinating professional training and leisure courses. FSC provides informative and enjoyable opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to discover, explore, be inspired by, and understand the natural environment.



Under the "Environment for Healthy Life" Public Centre is operating "Learning for Life" Centre. This Centre is the result of the Project between "Environment for Healthy Life" NGO (Uzbekistan) and Field Studies Council (UK).  The Centre was established within the framework of the EU Tacis Institution Building & Partnerships Programme (IBPP) in February 2004.  The main goal of the Centre is to enhance quality of education. "Learning for Life" Centre works as a tool to develop materials, conduct events (seminar, trainings and social events); methodical demonstration centre that implements innovation and delivers alternative approaches in education and as an informational centre.
LfL works close with the Ministry of Public Education and State Committee on Environment protection to provide mainstream of ESD. LfL is a member of National Coordination Council on ESD and responsible for the literature, methodical and video materials on this area.

Permanent activities of the Centre
Newsletters - are produced in Russian, Uzbek and English 6 times a year. They include information on current work, planned events opportunities offered bythe Centre, special events, and announcements. The newsletters are disseminated among target groups, beneficiaries and representatives of city administration. In addition, our newsletters are disseminated at other events, in which the project members take part in (seminars, conferences, exhibitions, etc).
Clubs –LFL Centre run following clubs:
• English Language Club – teaching environmental education, healthy life and civil education through English language;
• Social Discussion Club "Images of Life" - watching films on critical topics and discussions;
• "Peer to Peer" Club - helps teenagers to make better use of their leisure time, and to learn more skills required for wider development and better performance.
Consultation – The LfL Centre provides consultancy for individuals and groups who need advice and who are covered by Centres’ terms of reference and where we have the opportunities to help them solve their questions. Usually these are teachers and educational advisors.
LFL Centre – as a resource centre. LFL Centre works also as a mediator between donors and organizations. The organizations and target group, needed for materials, receive them from donor organizations (UNESCO, UNICEF and others) through LFL Centre.
